Meet Our Artisans

Behind every Mud Lotus piece is an artist whose hands hold generations of knowledge. 

By weaving old-world craftsmanship with conscious modern design, we protect heritage and nurture balance in a fast-paced world.

Here are some of the extraordinary individuals who bring our collections to life:

  • Vicky

    Vicky, aka Mr. India, who owns Ethnic Textiles, comes from a long lineage of tailors in Rajasthan, India and has been creating our designs for the last 8 years. Together we make our unique block printed fabrics in the village of Kaladera with his dear friend and colleague Mr. Babulal.  

    We specialize in plant indigo dye and most of our clothing utilizes custom block print design

    Fine cotton block printed, linen and vintage kantha are the forefront of what is created in Vicky's atelier with his superb team of master tailors.

  • Devendra

    Devendra, aka Dev, dear friend and artist extraordinaire is a true visionary. Together we look for the finest and most beautiful vintage silk saris to upcycle into many styles, some of which are his very own talented designs.

    Dev gathers exquisite super fine cotton saris from South India to create our ultra light summer collections.

    Lately his eye for vintage embroidered cotton wall hangings designed into jackets has really taken off and we are so lucky to carry some of these one of a kind pieces at Mud Lotus.

  • Vikas

    Vikas, is from a family lineage of tailors in Rajasthan, modern and talented. His dedicated & super skilled team of tailors produces many of our garments.

  • Mr. Babulal

    Mr. Babulal at Kaladera village is where creation begins for our unique Mud Lotus block printed wear. Unlike some of the most popular blockprint villages around Jaipur, Kaladera is really a small enterprise which we are blessed to work with.

    From the washing and drying of the cotton to the choice of different wooden block prints we will use each season, the entire process is manual and organically done in the fields around Mr. Babulal's home. Ancient traditions are kept alive by artisans for the love of maintaining an art form which is too often discarded in today's world because of its slower production process.

  • Mr. Balber

    Mr. Balber, aka Mr. Pouchman. We have known each other for over 15 years, and I discovered his tiny hole in the wall shop when I wandered into the wholesale jewelry district of Jaipur.

    It has become a ritual each year to visit, discuss the state of the world, spirituality and our love and passion for recycling. 

    Mr. Balbir is dedicated to recycling old discarded silk saris. He employs Muslim women who culturally can only work from home to get paid. The end result are his magical silk pouches we offer our customer, starting from mini ones for a ring or earrings to large totes for larger purchases.

    We both share the passion of recycling and upcycling fabrics which is the small contribution we can make to the planet today.
